I did that on my 89 Westy and it worked great. I made many of the
hoses from bulk pieces and bought the rest. Those hose shears that
Sears Hardware sells are great for cutting the hoses to length. Do do
this job without them. Get the pair that have the 3" long razor knife
blade. You will need it to cut the larger diameter hoses.

Why not Just use the VW to Napa hose conversion that's online?
http://vw.upnorth.net/index.phtml?catid=108 I have been thinking of doing
it that way cause it should be way cheaper and still give me that piece of
mind. Seems you would only need like $50 in VW hoses and the rest would be
home made, if you do it like the suby guys it seems to be reliable and
service able anywhere. Any reasons not use that? Have people had bad
experancies?

I agree with this 100%. Let me add this. $500 for hoses will tow your
vanagon a long distance home. IMHO spending this money is just
like insurance... plane stupid

Would that be plain stupid, as in somewhere around Nebraska?
Would that be plane stupid, as in lack of preventative maintenance on a
Cessna?
Would that be plane stupid, as in linear thinking inside "the box"?
OR
Would that be plain stupid, as in driving around without auto insurance?
Just wondering :)
