Not really -- IIRC from when I had my engine out the splash guard is held in by three vertical strips of sheet metal; the two side pieces are held in place by the bolts that hold the crossbar to the mounts. See the Bentley, sec. 10, for a diagram. "All you have to do" is back the bolts out (you can leave the splash guard in situ), but to do that you might have to pull the muffler because of the clearances in there. Neither the book nor the bus is readily at hand, so I apologize for the vaguery. > Do I need some swivels or something? In that neighborhood of the engine, oh cripes, yes. The fitment of the exhaust / splash guard / engine carrier bar / oil filler tube is pure evil. Get yourself a bunch of extender bars, short-depth sockets, thin-wall sockets, and a couple of universal joints for your socket set. And be prepared to remind yourself repeatedly that you are having fun.
