Pencil erasers. Good. If you can still buy the rougher ink erasers that come in a pencil form - they work great! Sand paper only if you don't have any plating (commonly tin/nickel). Anyone who uses sandpaper on gold plating/flash needs to get yelled at. :-) Stan's probably right. But I'm not sure I understand what would upset the dash electrics except possibly a poor ground. Or a high voltage spike coupling into the harness. //Jack Date sent: Sun, 25 Apr 2004 19:42:26 -0400 Send reply to: David Brodbeck <gull@GULL.US> From: David Brodbeck <gull@GULL.US> Subject: Re: Wiring tach triggered oil pressure alarm - ?? - help To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > On Sun, 25 Apr 2004, Stan Wilder wrote: > > > Sounds like you need to take some 400 grit wet dry sandpaper and clean your > > contacts on the foil circuit on the back of your speedometer & cluster. > > A pencil eraser works pretty well for contact cleaning, too, and has the > benefit of not taking off so much of the plating on plated connectors. > Sandpaper is better for heavy corrosion but the eraser takes off tarnish > really well. |
