When is an adapter plate a must have: - 15 or 0 degree install - Automatic transmission - Syncro when you do not have a Diesel starter and Diesel Syncro fuel tank Starting with a water cooled Vanagon will only reduce the need to install a radiator system / heating system. Boxer / wasserboxer transmission cases are the same.
