Fellowvolksia,
My Westy is the first motor vehicle I've owned, been mostly a bike man up till now. I've heard differing views on distance markers for certain maintenance tasks. The local VW guru-shop in town says 3000 km for regular check ups and oil changes, the next level of maintenance tasks being every 6000 km and 12000 km. However, the Hayne's manual suggests 5000 mile increments. I think they are both referring to some sorta VW service schedule from on high. Whatever.
Any opinion on the large discrepancy in distances? Is the Mechanic shop sand bagging or compensating for people that can't identify burgeoning problems? Waddya think?
