The only thing I ever got a discount from the dealer on was rubber
window molding (which I now buy from list vendors). The parts guy said
"I'm going to give you 10% off this stuff because I like to see peole
fixing these old things up."

I get more knowledgeable service and better prices from list vendors,
as well as my local mechanic, who drive a westy.
