i would attribute it to excessive clearance in the main bearings and the big end of the connecting rods. make sure that you have a good german oil filter on with the proper anti drain down check valve. additionally you could run 20-50 oil, but that will only do so much to make up the clearances between metal components. the next time you change your oil cut open the oil filter and examine the pleats of the oil filter for metal particles.
