I've got a full sheet cover over the coil that catches air on the frontside and allows it to pass through or upward through the coils. The coil is spaced below the belly pan about 3/8". I hit on this because it seems all but the newest Porsche have very poor air conditioning. Almost every Porsche except the newest models have these added in Texas. I think it relates to the 5800 rpm redline on the tach and even over 6500 on some Porsche models. Looking at my drive pulley on the crank it's only about 3" diameter while the compressor drive pulley is 5.5" diameter. That tells me that the compressor is always turning slow compared to engine speed. Most Air Cooled Vanagons and 72-79 Busses use about the same pulley ratio. On the 72-79 Vans I've seen a full six square feet of condenser coil under the bus to get the required cooling. At any rate its a cheap fix and it's been working for me .................... until I run down a large cat and damage the coil.

Stan
