Subject: Electrical Problem on '85 westfalia
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi List,

I am still experiencing my "running rich" problem. I went through the check list for the ECU connector that is in the Bentley or at www.vanagonparts.com/digijet_fi_check.html. Most of the numbers were close but here are a few that were not. Terminal 1 & 7, the voltage was about 2V less than the battery voltage measured at the back of the alternator. Terminal 4 & 7, 60 ohms at rest, open circuit when the throttle was opened and 0 ohms at full throttle. All the injector reading were between 17.2 ohms and 17.6 ohms, the list asked for 16 to 16.4 ohms. Every thing else looked good. I also measured the resistance from the coil strap to the case and the heads, the meter read .1 ohm.

I am having another problem that may be related. The tail lights (signals back up and parking) are very dim, the headlights front parking light and signals are OK. I checked the parking light socket and there is about 5V less than the battery voltage measured above.

I also measured the voltage at the green wire going to the + side of the coil, the voltage was about 8V (ignition on).

Am I missing a ground somewhere or is my ignition switch bad?

Thanks for any help.

George
