I just replaced my skylight, the seal, and a few other parts. Before I took the old seal out, I noticed that there was a small gap where the ends should meet. I figured the rubber would shrink over time, and that's what caused it.

New gaskets don't cost too much, you might just replace it. It's not hard. But if boiling it works, please let us know!
