So sign up with a fake name, if you're worried about them finding out you buy a dozen eggs and a six-pack of toaster waffles every couple of weeks. They don't care. In fact, at the Kroger here the cashier will swipe *their* card for you in most cases if you tell them you forgot yours.

The card is a convenience for them, but unless you pay with cash they can track your purchases anyway.
