Pencil erasers. Good. If you can still buy the rougher ink erasers that come in a pencil form - they work great! Sand paper only if you don't have any plating (commonly tin/nickel). Anyone who uses sandpaper on gold plating/flash needs to get yelled at. :-)

Stan's probably right. But I'm not sure I understand what would upset the dash electrics except possibly a poor ground. Or a high voltage spike coupling into the harness.
