FWIW, our recently-acquired '85 Vanagon cost us $50. The gentleman who owned it died last December. My wife works for the attorney who is handling the estate. He put an ad in the paper putting it up for bids but wouldn't let us bid on it (supposed "conflict of interest") unless other bids came in. Not one did! So we offered the family (all over in Germany) $50 for it, they accepted, and we bought it.

Walt, Obviously the seller is a lier, or just plan stupid. He did not take the best offer, (the lier option) or did not care enough to ask others what they would offer, (plan stupid). Ether way, Walt, I'm glad to see you can out smartered people who post OBO, as I think people like this want a bidding war to start, yelding them a lot of cash.
