Welcome to the world of Vanagons. I'm also a relative newby. I purchased my 89 Westy (has a fridge and two burner stove, etc.) last spring. It required a lot of work but was basically sound and not rusty. Since then, I've travled about 20,000 miles to both coasts and Canada. I live in Wisconsin and am semi-retired.

This List is a great place to learn about your Vanagon and how to maintain and repair it. If you submit a question, expect to get many more direct responses than appear on the List. I've received invaluable help and have saved a lot of money by reading List questions and responses.

The internet also offers a variety of web sites devoted to Vanagon owners. Set your search engine to "Vanagon" and start reading. If you want to short- circuit the process, send me a direct response and I will give you my list of favorites.

Good luck and enjoy that Vanagon. You got a great buy.

Dan Roberts
