In the not-pretty department, get some silicone sealant like the kitchen and bath stuff. If you can get some cloth or canvas of the same color, it might actually look pretty good. Put a bead around the hole in the canvas, and put the patch on, and push it together. Holds as well as anything, and the silicone stays pliable and is waterproof. -Hans
