I'm not quite at 5k on my new Boston Engine Stage I 2.1L (I've put just under 4,000 on it). Took it down to DC and back last weekend (~1,000 miles with some detours to see friends), and I couldn't be happier: the bus easily cruised at 65 (3700 rpm) the whole way, and that includes a bunch of passengers, some stiff headwinds, and some long uphill pulls on the Merritt Parkway that used to slog my old engine down to 50mph. Oil consumption thus far has been absolutely minimal: I keep checking the dipstick superstitiously, but it ate less than .25 quart of oil over the whole thousand miles. Fuel economy was also much, much better than I expected: I'll send along some exact numbers later tonight. The _real_ torture test comes in a couple of weeks when I have to drive a buddy of mine from here (Boston) down to southern Virginia to pick up yet another vintage Saab.
