Have you even driven with H4 lights (aka E-codes) that are correctly aimed?
I am running 90/130W H4s in my Westfalia with a 3% downward angle. This is
the correct downward angle for the lights. This means that at 1000cm (10m)
in front of the vehicle the top of the V in the 'cut off' section of the
light pattern should be 30cm (.30m) lower than the center of the light -
this V should also be directly in front of the light too. With your lights
CORRECTLY aimed there is no problem with on coming traffic. My lights are
BRIGHT to me, but on coming traffic NEVER 'flashes' me as it is not annoying
to them at all. You simply can not just pop in the H4s and start driving
you have to aim them first. If not then YOU are the safety hazard on the
road, just as much as having incorrectly aimed 9004 series lights.

As I always tell those out there that are adding these lights.............
It is great that YOUR visibility is improved. But thing about the people
coming at you that you are blinding. They are not improving your safety at
all.

Subject: [VANAGON] E-codes w/ 9004 bulbs?
Thanks to Fastforward's informative Vanagon halogen light wiring
conversion info sheet, I see that the electrical socket for the European
H4 bulbs is different from the North American 9004 bulbs. If I wanted
to avoid cutting the existing sockets in my van and soldering in H4
sockets, can I simply install the 9004 bulbs into the square E-code
fixture, or are the mechanical attachment dimensions different? I
realize the H4 bulbs may be superior than the 9004 bulbs, but it sure
would be a pain to not be able to purchase a replacement at any FLAPS
should the need arise because they don't stock H4 and also be prevented
from using 9004's.
Thanks,
Michael
