<snip> I'm still going to have the cover in place, but use a different way of attaching the lid and carpet. Anyone have any ideas on this? <snip> The standard Vanagons (without swivel seats) have a hinged battery cover over the primary battery that won't work with the swivel in place. Westfalia put a flat plate over the battery that screws down. When I bought my Westy, the screws were missing ... and still are. The flap of carpet holds the plate in place without a problem. I suppose I could run some adhesive backed foam around the bottom of the plate near the edges (not on the edges) that would extend into the battery box a tad and keep the plate from shifting ... but shifting hasn't been a problem so far.
