Jonathan,

I put an 87 cluster into my 85 because I wanted a tachometer. I had to swap the whole cluster because the 85 cluster's attachment points were broken and I couldn't pass inspection with the whole unit wiggling around. But then the mileage was off, so the inspection station guy made me put the original 85 odometer into the 87 cluster so there would be no mileage variation. I actually put the whole speedometer / odometer unit into the 87 cluster. Not realizing that it would cause problems later, I put the high pressure oil alarm board from the 87 into the 85 speedo unit. Then about 7 months later, just a few weeks ago, I finally got around to finishing wiring the tach. Then, armed with knowledge from the list, I grounded out the oil pressure alarm as it would kick in when the rpm's got above about 3000 or so. No problems since then.

Sam
