I suggested the older Sony camera because they are relatively inexpensive ($100 + or - on Ebay with the full gadget bags.) The computer is optional for saving bulk pictures. It seems that Laptop computers grow exponentially into Internet Behemoths that run into thousands of bucks. By the time computers are ready to be fully portable Internet ready without local electric, phone lines etc. they can cost more than your van that you travel in.
