Well, I got the dreaded broken shift lever at 194k miles. I was just = reading the posts earlier about the shifter breakage and the Berg short = shifter and wondered if mine was next to go. Does anyone have a good used stock shift lever to sell cheap? I'm = hoping someone who upgraded to the short shifter has one to get rid of. = I think shifting with a screwdriver will get old pretty fast.

Hans, first, when installing the Gene Berg shifter there is no shifter rod left over. The original shifter rod is used. Second, do not get another shift rod, it will only break again. Take the broken shift rod and insert about a 6" rod inside of it at the break and then have it welded in the proper manner. You will end up with a much better repair. If you cannot weld take it to someone who knows what their doing. Cheers,
