Nice try. Why didn't I think of that. I was in the two car situation as well until we got our first Vanagon. I'm the father of 4 and we were thrilled to death to be able to travel together in the same vehicle. That is until it caught on fire and was totally destroyed during the second week of ownership. Still paying off the advance for the first Vanagon we decided to try our luck again. The second van lasted almost a week. A family of 6, two dead Vanagons and no way to even go out to dinner together. I'm sure there are people in situations worse than mine out there. I haven't asked for money (needing it badly), but I'm grateful for those who have replied to my post about a reliable mechanic in my area. I've heard good things about VW Paradise in San Marcos from two separate sources. I'm just afraid to find out what it's going to cost to repair it.
