Larry never said "Please send me money". If you look for those words,
you won't find them... THIS FACT HAS NOT BEEN DISPUTED.
I honestly don't think Larry wants money; he wants an engine.
What I interpreted from the message was that some sort of charitable
contribution may be
have been implied ("really cheap","next to nothing").
IMO, if one does not at least ask, one will probably never get what one
wants.
No harm in asking!!

I respect the knowledge and opinions of all of the people on this list.
I believe that each person is entitled to voice their opinions if they wish
to do so.
Just as Larry has exercised his right to speak in this forum, so may others.
Thank you to those who have provided additional background information on
the subject.
I believe it is "particularly helpful" to those who are following this
thread to make
a rational decision on what level they wish to participate. That goes for
both positive
and negative editorial feedback.
That's the main reason I felt compelled to chime in on the subject. I don't
believe that
anyone has the right to attempt to silence another. IF I did, I probably
would have
requested by now to please stop the cross-posting of RoadHaus messages to
multiple
mailing lists simultaneously (vanagon, syncro, wetwesties, ???),
or perhaps set up a RoadHaus mailing list and confine the posts to that
list....
But I'm not going to do that ;)
so, as for creative solutions, I found this one amusing...

Perhaps a relay network of Vanagons could be set up for towing from point to
point.
If so, I'm willing to participate, but first I will need an Aircooled.net
rear bumper
with 2" hitch receiver mounted on my van. Anyone have one of those for
really cheap?
Doesn't hurt to ask!!
