How's that for a subject. I hope those who search the archives can find this post. I just replaced the foam that is in the rear, side-window airflow plastic thingy on later model vanagons. The foam on my van was disintegrating. I went to Home Depot and bought some 1 & 1/4 inch thick Air-Conditioner weather strip. I had to cut the thickness in half but it fits and looks fine. It is charcoal grey rather than black but it is no big deal for me. The old foam just falls out, or one can wash/vacumn it out. I then cut a piece of new foam (a few inches longer than needed) and started threading it from the middle to the outside edges. By carefully pinching and carefully pulling, all went well. Looks like new. Total cast: $1.80 so one needn't ask for donations from the list members. Can be done with the window in place. My 2 cents worth. Malcolm
