Hi guys, Got a question about converting the shore/external mains power in my "imported to the UK" 83 Vanagon Westy. As it comes from the States (Michigan I think the original plates are) it naturally is set up to take US plugs and 110 Volts from the mains. Because it is now over here (and so am I) and I intend to use it around the UK and Europe I would like to convert it to UK plugs and to be able to use 230-240 Volts mains. I know the fridge will only work on 110 so I will have to buy a 240 to 110 inverter but they only cost about 18 quid I think. I guess the question is will the factory wiring take 240V and all I have to do is change the three pin plug sockets over to UK types (and install the inverter for the fridge) or will I need to mess with the little silver box that the mains power seems to go into from the plug on the side of the vehicle or anything else? Any help much appreciated. Troy... |
