Hi, age 45 addicted to Vw's - lurking and getting help from this list to keep our beloved '88GL going.... earliest VW memory I have is sitting in the back of my Dad's white '62 bug - I mean the back behind the rear seats:) was about 4 years then - My parents always had VW's back home - 62 Bug, 68 Fastback, 68 Bug, 72 K70, 80's Passat (Dasher), I inhereted most of them over the years, I really enjoyed the K70, but it was totally uneconomical. My wife and I later owned a converted '76 ambulance as a camper - took us all over France. Then a 79 Vanagon which we converted from an orange delivery van to a nice red camper, which I sold almost with tears to follow another dream: we moved to the US - here many trips in a modified '73 Squareback (extended rear bench to actually sleep in it), '86 Vanagon, '88 Vanagon, 79 convertible, 2002 Jetta (job required transportation) and now a 99 EV camper. We still own the last 4 VWs, but are thinking of selling the Vanagon this year, not an easy decision, but insurance is way too high in NJ to keep 4 cars. I enjoyed reading other member's VW history - cheers, Wolfgang |
