Hmmm, lots of interesting replies to this one. Age: 55 VWs: 61 beetle in 68, just before I went in the Navy. Left it with my parents, don't know what happened to it. Spent 22 years in the Navy, owned 6 or 8 different bugs in 6 or 8 diferent countries. I always looked for a VW when I got transferred. In 1972 I returned from Vietnam with a friend who had a 1970 camper and we spent, what was possibly the best, 30 days of our lives roaming around California. Fast forward to 2004. I'm finally fully retired and I bought an 85 GL in February. I can't seem to leave it parked, nor wipe the smile off my face while I'm driving around the backwoods where I live. I also enjoy the banter, stories, and expertise of this list. Thanx, Charlie Swanson Lucasville, Ohio
