i'm seeking the collective knowledge of the list on AAA roadside assistance memberships. i have a membership right now that my girlfriends mom bought us last year because she was paranoid about our cross country road trip. i have only used the thing twice once when i ran out of gas around town because my gauge was reading wrong, and once when i locked my keys in the van. the tow driver couldn't get in with all his stuff and after a 40 min. wait and 20 min. of him failing i got pissed and took apart the window and let myself in.

so this is my question its time to renew the membership, they want $45 to renew for a year. the thing is that i have heard people speak of this mythical "AAA gold card" that lets you have towing for a 100 miles. people have said that you get offered this option after a year of being a member. i have received no such offer and if i were to renew this might be the only reason that i did. how do i get the 100 mile towing benefit?
