Over the two years that I have been on list I have seen many references to Vanagon owners also having motorcycles. It seems like a disproportionately high number.

The one brand of motorcycle that stands out is the BMW. I happen to own an '87 Vanagon and a 1999 BMW R1100S (purchased new - that bike is the only vehicle I have ever purchased new). I have also owned two other BMWs (a 1970 BMW R75/5 with a toaster tank, and an '87 K75S - never should have sold either of them), as well as an '87 Ducati 750 Paso. Why does the year 1987 keep popping up?

Incidentally, I also used to run the service department at a BMW motorcycle dealership. I didn't own a Vanagon then, but the Accessories Manager did (she owned BMW motorcycles also).

So, question is: do you ride a motorcycle, and if so, what year, make and model?

Cheers, Bruce motorbruce
