I love my Vanagon despite the insanity of some of the engineering decisions. The little Toyota minvan that made it to the US early on was once described by an automotive critic as "looking as if it had been designed on the back of a cocktail napkin." At least the Vanagon looks good in terms of the visual design....

Now why some OTHER things were done the way they were will always be a mystery to me.
