ok--might as well throw my info in. nice seeing were people are coming from kind of

I am 33. started in VW's at 17 with a orange 74 super beetle in WI--first car. my neighbor at the time was a retired VW mechanic who enjoyed watchin me make mistakes. he wouldnt say anything until i was about to do something wrong--then make me stop and think about the course of action I was about to take. I learned a ton and did a full on restoration of that car. I went to college and left the bug parked at my parents (WI winter ya know) and moved onto a 81 jetta, bought a 71 type 3 fastback with my girlfirend at the time (super fun car set up for rallies), and a 300K rabbit in there somehow. graduated--moved to MN and had too sell the bug and the jetta, that lasted about a month and I bought a 70 karmann ghia, sold that when I moved to CO, again--within a month I had 70 bug ($200 and it still runs great), 67 baja bug, 71 beetle I bought for parts but drove a while, 89 vanagon syncro, 66 VW kombi (just sold to a nice couple from england after restoration), 87 vanagon syncro (sold to a friend), 68 karmann ghia (was offered cash for it when I was out driving it one day--sold), 87 vanagon syncro (sold to another friend and currently for sale), 84 rabbit GTI, and my current 87 vanagon syncro I'm doing subi conversion on right now. my first diff lock syncro and i'm keeping this one. sure does seem like i am missing some there. but on top of that there has been none VW vehicles as well. 2 saab 96's, saab sonett, 63 chevy corvair, 74 BMW bravaria, 63 ford thunderbird, 60 chevy apache pickup, honda civic SI (before they got popular with the tuner crowd), 3 subarus. etc as well as 89 honda NX250, 93 suzuki DR350, 75 honda CB400F super sport, 76 Triumph bonneville, and just last week--89 honda XL600V transalp (dream bike for a long time).

I'm actually the lowest # of vehicles in my drive right now than I have been in a long time. just one subaru, one syncro (spread out across the garage floor at this time) and one motorcycle. first time really i have been air cooled less in a super long time--6 years I think. wont last long--looking for a ghia or fastback again. buying a house might put a damper on that though
