Subject: re removing wbx
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

The wbx is super easy to remove. First remove the tranny and motor together.. I made a dolly out of five castors and a piece about three feet by four feet. I put the castors on the four corners and one in the middle. Follow the bentley instructions. I have a engine hoist and attached that to the front of the wbx. I olaced a small rolling hydr jack on the end of the tranny. I removed all the tranny mounting bolts and the motor mount bolts and , with my wifes help, lowered the engine hoist or crane and the hydro jack until the engine was on the dolly. Then I just rolled it out. I did the exact same for putting it back, As for cleaning, I used a power washer and citron engine cleaner(smells like oranges not as bad as gunk). then I crawled in there and used cheap dish soap and nylon scrubbies to clean the rest. Hot water here and a rain suit are a good idea. A couple things I never mentioned, I use ramps for lifting the vw. These are a must and are great when you need to bleed the coolant system. If you do not have an engine crane or hoist(free standing) then you can use pieces of two by four on each end with a large piece of 4x4 to lift up. simply lift to remove each piece of 2x4 until the engine is on the ground. Last but not least unless every thing has been removed from inside tape a sheet of plastic behind the back seat to protect everything. If it is a westy romove the back cabinet(real easy to do). That is if you do not have air up there. Hope this helps. Patrick,Appin Ont, 85 westy
