Sounds like you fixed it.
The brake pedal should have about 1/2" of free travel before it develops
resistance.
You might also look for a vacuum leak in the engine compartment brake
booster feeder hose that is intermittent.

Lately we've been having a few warm days here in SoCal, and when I go out to
my '84 to go home from work, the brake pedal is very high, like something is
expanding. I bled the brake system a while back while replacing front
rotors. Any Ideas
