Just for the record....

My Dad eventually declared bankruptcy, see if you can you guess why..(this was only part of his problem), He owned and raced some of these (SCCA, and not VW)...(if you don't see years, I can't remember, Mom and Dad are passed away..)

Foreign Cars: (aside from the VW's I mentioned...(maybe some real old-timers remember these, and don't forget, "Furren cars are junk"; 1950's and beyond...)

2 '50's Porsche 356's (there is a picture of me with one, I could scan the picture and send to Stan for the year identification, except I'm in a monkey suit). Mercedes 190SL (yuck) Lotus Mk 17 Lola (?) A.C. Bristol (left hand drive, raced at Sebring 1958, still have the "D" class trophy's) 1957? One-off right hand drive A.C. Bristol, 1960? '61? Facel Vega "Facelia" (sp?) (yuck). 1962 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce 1962 Lotus Elite (yuck, bad car, bad car) 1963 289 A.C. Cobra (S/N CSX2001) First private car sold by Shelby. (required VW content: Had 2 beetle horn grilles at rear of hood corners for cooling air flow out of engine bay.) Check the A. C. Cobra Registry if you doubt the ownership. Sold to "Lucky Cassner". (not so lucky). My Dad blew out a LH rear Goodyear "Blue Streak" during a race at Connellsville PA at 120MPH... scared him so much he stopped racing. 1964 Sunbeam Tiger (260) Short stick trans (Mom wrecked this one, thanks) 1965 Sunbeam Tiger (260) Long stick trans (older brother wrecked this one, thanks) 1966 Mercedes 250S sedan (horrible car) 1971 VW 411 (sorry, Yuck!) 1972 Karman Ghia hardtop (Ok) 1973 Porsche 914 (which I later installed a '67 911S engine in, yes I had to make my own dry sump oil tank, early MPC FI was bad folks). 1976 Mazda RX4 wagon (weird)

American Cars: 1955 Cadillac (Don't know model, 4 door) 1957 Plymouth Fury (Hemi) Used as tow car for Sebring. 1959 Plymouth Station Wagon (oooh the one with the squared off clear Lucite (or something) steering wheel with silver flecks in it, and a tape type speedo if I recall correctly). 1961 Cadillac Convertible (2 door). 1963 Buick Riviera (big bloody engine, 401, 455 in'63?) ( I remember you could open the doors from the rear, two sets of door handles out of the arm rest). 1979 Caddy Deville 1982 Biarritz (sp).

Sorry for the non-Vanagon post.

Dave
