Gary,

I think you missed the part about "sheet metal".  Whacking it with a hammer
will change your requirement from hole drilling to dent fixing.

First thing is get some safety glasses and a center punch. Figure out where
you want the holes, and get your big hammer out and put the center punch on
that spot and whack it like a Sopprano. Then find a small "brand new" drill
bit--like 1/8 inch or so and make a "pilot" hole. Then you can work your way
up to a bigger size.
