Yea,but you gotta rev the buggery out of them to get going in a heavy vehicle....they just don't have the torque down low where you need it in a Transporter...

A friend of mine had a rotary in a '73 Double Cab years ago....lots of slipping the clutch to get the thing happening but it went like a scalded cat once it got going...I remember doing 130kph in 3rd before I shifted to 4th.... Useless for pulling a load however...
