Subject: Advance notice to listees: I'm going to sell my beloved '84
Westy!

Hi folks,
I haven't been on the list for awhile, but I'm sure some of you will
remember me! I'm detailing her now, but I thought I'd solicit opinions from
the list before I officially list her for sale.
I've got so many extras in this rig the parts may well be worth more than
the sum. 30k miles on a completely rebuilt 2.1 engine from NW Connecting
Rod, 20k on a special never before used factory training transmission from
AA Transaxle with the taller 4th gear option (cost for engine and tranny:
$4000), VDO oil and volt gauges, captain's style seats from an '85, Kenwood
6011 CD player (wired for powered bass speaker), Shady Boy Awning, Bus Boys
side step, sunroof, Stebro stainless steel muffler with complete new
exhaust, extra modified front table bracket that swings out the side door,
Yakima rack with three gutter brackets, etc, etc, etc; just passed smog too.
She's no doubt the best '84 out there. In a lot of ways she's a better
camper than the EVC I've replaced her with.
I also have a ton of spare parts, new and used. New SA radiator, 4 CV joint
kits, spare ECU + all other FI electronics, front rotors, and lots more.
I would appreciate your thoughts on selling all as a package at a fairly
high price or parting out some of the extras and selling a more stripped
down rig for less money. My research shows decent '84's for sale for $4500
to $9500 (!).
I'm the second owner, I bought her in '86. She's got 250k miles on her now
and has some dents, but she's clean, rust free, and everything works.
Everything is there, including screens, curtains, and water tank lock and
key. The paint and bumpers are in good shape too (top has been repainted and
rubber replaced). There is a lot of life left in her, and I want to find
her a good home! (Note to those unfamiliar with '84's: There's no power
steering or air conditioning, but that's what the sunroof is for!)
Price suggestions as well as your thoughts on these two sale scenarios would
be welcome, as would responses from interested parties! I expect to have
her ready to show and list by the weekend.
I'm in digest mode, so please p-mail me if you'd like a personal response.
TIA
Stuart MacMillan
