East end of Flagstaff, AZ. Take US 89 north about twenty miles to Sunset Crater NP entrance. Go through the park. You'll drop off of the plateau, into BLM land. There are a few dirt roads off the road you're on, and you can camp restfully behind one of the big ol' juniper trees. Sunset crater is a pretty neat place to tromp around a bit, too. Hi ya folks Alex here...and I was wondering if anyone can recommend some cheap (or free) camping spots along route 40 from California to Nashville.
