I have run several Westy fridges on propane without any 12 volts hooked up. It may be that the last version from 1990/91 needs it for the automatic ignitor system but the vast majority certainly don't. The 12 volt cooling fan in the rear needs to work if you plan to run it for extended periods installed in the Westy. Mark
