Hi, I answered the short survey they had online. They asked, "If the new Microbus cost $30,000 or more would you buy it?" I said, "No." I had read a statement somewhere else that VW said producing a quality car costs them more than $30k given the current dollar weakness. I also noted my priorities for a new van, "dependability, large interior space (or flexibility), safety, gas mileage." Looks is not in there, the Vanagon is not a babe-magnet after all. (I do like the retro look though, but it should have been rounder, more aerodynamic.) Hopefully they offer a camper option. I told my 8 year old that we would eventually get a new one and that was the first question, "Will it have a top like ours?" The sad thing is that unless they already have the tooling ramped up, it will be at least another 18 months before we see anything. Hopefully worth the wait. Conrad |
