Hi Yesterday I lost the ability to shift into reverse. Weird. Found out that it is not the gearbox, but worn busings etc. in the mounting of the gearshift. Especially at the rearend at the gearbox. The support "stick" for the end of the gearshift rod, has a small plastic ring, that should make the connection a tight fit. But is is gone on my bus, so there is a lot of slack, which leads to it is very difficult to shift into reverse. I contacted VW dealer, they dont have the plastic ring, I have to special-order the full gearshiftrod.supportstick. So I will instead get under the car tonight, and wrap enought ducttape around the support.stick to get a tight fit, while I figure out what to do properly........ Anyone else have fixed this issue (and similar)? Happy driving Jens Jakob |
