The government must be doing a pretty good job of suppressing news of the increase in major eruptions that would lead to the tremendous increase in CO2 over the last century. If you see it charted against historic levels as it was in National Geographic recently, the ups and downs through various past ice ages look like a flat line compared to the spike we're in now.
