Subject: Met another listee
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know another good story about meeting another listee. I had a business trip coming up to Sweden, so I made arrangments to visit Calle and purchase some used E-code square headlights. It was great fun explaining to my coworkers that yes, I was going to pay $50 for a 2-hour train ride to the "middle of nowhere" to spend the night at someone's house I've never met before and purchase some used headlights! Calle and his Belgian Shepherd Khamsin were great hosts and we stayed up late talking about many things, not all of it Vanagon related. I even got to drive the Vanavolvo 5-speed around some beautiful country roads! The point of travelling is to meet other people who are different from yourself, and it was nice to get the opportunity. So, next time you are in Sweden, look him up!

When I was going through customs back at my home airport RDU, the customs officer asked what I had purchased overseas. I told him some used headlights for my VW. He then said "You got one of those Vanagons, don't you?" I thought it was very funny, that either customs officers are being trained to read minds, or we are getting a reputation. It turns out, he has a friend who has a Vanagon . . .
