Yes i MUST have the "heavy Duty" Bil's....and the shocks i had on before these were the "Touring Class" ones. The ride is definitly stiffer than the touring ones , but i like the ride alot as my westy wieghs a bunch with all the gear. They help greatly when i stomp on the brakes, when i do stomp on the brakes the front end doesnt take an instant 3 foot dive like the OEM shocks did....no 'porpoising effect' or whatever they call it.
