<P>My sister-in-law gave me one of those inspirational page-a-day calendars for Christmas last year. She&nbsp;thinks I am&nbsp; a grouchy old German.&nbsp;</P>
<P>&nbsp;Today's "5 things to be happy about" were:</P>
<P>- rereading Jane Eyre</P>
<P>- the creak of an old wood floor</P>
<P>- a chin with a dimple</P>
<P>- cobblestone streets</P>
<P>- VW buses (with a cartoon next to it showing a guy driving a&nbsp;VW bus&nbsp;flashing a peace sign)</P>
<P>Needless to say,&nbsp;this made my day. It also&nbsp;came at a very opportune moment, since the syncro blew a coolant hose on the interstate&nbsp;the other day. The westy is in the shop getting fine -tuned for our big Alaska trip this summer. Diagnosis so far: cracked u-joint in steering column, all new cv- joints. The bills were piling up, and &nbsp;I have to confess, we doubted&nbsp;the sanity of driving vanagons. Just for a few moments, though. Forgive us.<BR>Cheers,<BR><BR>Hermann de Boer </P>
