Ben, if you think about it...a front end collision will send weight to the
front...to the horizontal jumpseat mount bar.. the jumpseat isnt latched to the
floor..it just sits in those cups loosely, by gravity or  the weight of the
person in the seat... the cups in the floor are 1/4"  deep at best, loose
fitting, and weather theyre steel welded to the floor or brass or just holes drilled
in the plywood, nothing will hold the jumpseat to the floor in a collision.
i think that is the main reason the '93 up eurovan jumpseat mounts were
totally redesigned. the eurovan jumpseat mounting points are more substantial.   if
you want to argue that point, you can also argue why didnt vw put 3 point
shoulderharnesses in ALL vanagons, when clearly they were ALL made to accept the
3 pt shoulderharnesses..    thats one thing i never understood..
