Welcome to the group.

Volkswagen calls your particular model a Vanagon Camper and most publications like Kelly Blue Book and the model info on www.vanagon.com use the same designation. Any number of nicknames for that particular model are out there, pick one you like.

I started a Yahoo!Group for this particular model of Camper and there is a lot of info, files and photos for everyones use there. Please follow the link in my signature to see the group and join up if you would like.

The cooling system problems are common, start with a pressure test of the system to look for leaky connections, if everything checks, then have the coolant tested for the presence of hydrocarbons to see if a head gasket might be the problem.

Anyway, enjoy your camper, IMHO you have one of the best model Vanagons made, it gives you the benefits of a GL Camper without some of the quirks and issues, but I am kind of biased:>)
