People will pay extra for something they don't have to put money and work into right way. Remember Stan's Law -- if you buy a typical Vanagon, you'll put at least the original purchase price back into it in repairs in the first year of ownership. If GoWesty has already done that work, their prices don't look so bad.

If you want something really outrageous, I can show you places where Porsche Speedster replicas are selling for more than the original cars retailed for, and they're not even real Porsches, just a fiberglass Speedster-lookalike body on a VW Beetle chassis.
