Hi Frank,

Bentley specified using adhesive AMV 172 003 05, and that from model year 1986 specific pieces of glass were glued. More specifically, windshield, side windows, and rear lid glass. Page 64.3. I replaced my windshield a while ago and used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive part number 08011. This adhesive is designed for EPDM rubber.

Anyway I was just going by the Bentley and did not have a strong opinion whether adhesive was required or not. The 3M adhesive sure is messy though.

Ryan
