Maybe it wasn't the whole distributor, just the hall sender within...but maybe it's impossible to replace just the sender anyway... Mechanists (well, really the bad ones) tend to replace everything in site and not just the cheap defective part...they don't like wasting time on analysis, because it's hard to charge for time, easier on physical parts replacements... They have a point though...wasting an hour analysing might be costlier than immediately replacing something cheap anyway.
